CCHS Homecoming

Homecoming week at Campbell County High School was not your ordinary week. Obscure outfits ranged from people dressed in camo, to boys in high heels, and girls with beards and chest hair. This was how the students and staff at CCHS celebrated Homecoming week, October 5th through the 9th.
One week every year, CCHS has spirit days for Homecoming week. Each day of the week there is a different theme and different lunchtime activity.
On the first day of Homecoming week, Monday, many students dressed up in camouflage. Senior Aaron McPheeters dressed up because, “I could go into classrooms and no one could see me. Well not really, but at least it was the thought that counts.” Students also had a great time at lunch throwing pies at Principal Larry Steiger.
Tuesday was a great day for all the students who dressed up in all their parents’ old 80s clothes. Junior Paige Evans sported neon leggings and a pink oversized sweatshirt with the classic voluminous hair. Evans was joined by sophomore Lexi Hill in her extremely high heels, and Flashdance off-the-shoulder shirt. Brave students also joined in the messy fun for the egg drop during lunch.
Wednesday was the most interesting of all: Gender Bender Day/Hat Day. Guys dressed as chicks and chicks dressed as guys. Many of the guys wore skimpier clothes than the girls are ever allowed. The girls were sporting chest hair and beards. Senior Megan Oliver liked her trucker-hillbilly-with-a-mullet outfit, “cause it was shnazy.” Librarian Sasha Davidson switched gender and came to school like a soldier, complete with a poker mustache. The girly men and husky women skateboard jousted for this day’s lunchtime activity.
Thursday was Jersey Day and senior Kaitlin Knutson said, “I showed school spirit and supported my team by wearing my Cowboys jersey.” The students also showed off their talents in karaoke during lunchtime. After the school pep assembly, students gathered along Gillette Avenue for the big parade.
Friday students showed their Camel pride on Purple and Gold Day by wearing school colors. For this day’s lunchtime activity, students got to do body bowling.
As you can see, Homecoming week was quite interesting for the students and teachers at CCHS. No matter how weird it gets, the school looks forward
to Homecoming every year.
